Software Engineer – High Performance Computing
Provide technical solutions by conducting or participating in technical research and collaboration with clients, developers and/or vendors in the design, development, and implementation of large scale High Performance Linux clusters for scientific, genetic and geological research. Collaborate with other internal Hewlett-Packard groups in troubleshooting custom cluster installations around the United States. Participated in research on a high performance file system solution for a 1500 node cluster to insure that data could taken in a specified rate. Worked with a team of software engineers and technology consultants to architect and develop a custom software stack to run on a 1200 node High Performance Linux cluster. Provided system installations and troubleshooting to DOE, DOD and commercial sites within the United States.
Troubleshoot network problems with open source network tools such as ethereal, netperf and bbcp to insure speed and quality of service. Perform storage performance tests on Linux using Iozone and Bonnie++ to insure benchmarks for customers meet or exceed expectations.
Install, configure and support small, one rack clusters for use at tradeshows such as Linux World, HP Tech Forum and Super Computing.
